What's now become known as the PlateGate story continues to gain altitude, fueled further on Saturday by state Republican Party Chairman Chris Healy's blast against Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and his administration.

Healy criticized Malloy and his lieutenants for illegally releasing confidential state Department of Motor Vehicles information about exclusive low-digit license plates and embarrassing a number of prominent Republicans who recently got the plates.

The dozens who obtained the plates in Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell's final month included Rell, her husband, her son, and her son's in-laws -- along with her then-chief of staff, M. Lisa Moody, now departed along with Rell, and current state Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, R-Fairfield.
