Ted Kennedy Jr. is not running for U.S. Senate in 2012, citing family considerations.
State Democratic party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo said Kennedy would have been an impressive contender.
"Ted Kennedy is a true public servant an asset to our state. He would have been a strong candidate, but I respect his decision not to run,'' DiNardo said this morning.
Two Democrats, U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, have already annoucned their intention to run for the seat to be vacated by U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman.
"We're blessed to have a very strong field of announced and prospective Democratic candidates, any of whom would be elected as our next Senator in 2012 should they become the Democratic nominee," DiNardo said.
