The annual legislative basketball game at the former Hartford Civic Center was canceled after Hartford Courant columnist Rick Green raised questions about the game.
Republican legislators traditionally faced off on the court against a Democratic team, and member for both sides often attended the University of Connecticut basketball game afterwards. This year, the legislative game had been scheduled before UConn was playing against the Georgetown Hoyas.
At a previous game several years ago, several legislators who were still serving at the time, including former Senate Republican leader Louis DeLuca, former Sen. Thomas Gaffey, former Rep. Ken Green, and former Rep. Shawn Johnston, were pictured on the court with UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun.
