A longtime inspector in former prosecutor John Connelly's office has been arrested on tax-evasion charges.
John "Pudgie'' Maia was indicted in connection with falsely claiming deductions on his federal tax returns that spanned four years.
Connelly, who recently stepped down as the top criminal prosecutor in Waterbury, has been under investigation by federal authorities regarding his dealings with defense attorney Martin Minnella.
