Sen. Joseph Lieberman and former Sen. Chris Dodd each released statements reflecting on the life of Geraldine Ferraro, the trailblazing Democrat who died today.
Dodd called Ferraro "a great friend" and "a remarkable woman." The two served together in the U.S. House and maintained a bond through the years.
He recalled Ferraro's run for the vice-presidency in 1984. "One of her first stops during the campaign was in Connecticut and I campaigned with her that day,'' Dodd said in a personal statement emailed to reporters. "Later, we campaigned all over the state in the fall, and we remained great friends. I am saddened for her family, and thank her for all her contributions to our country."
Dodd is now chairman of the Motion Picture Association of America.
Lieberman also reflected on Ferraro's career, calling her a dear friend.
