For months now, Republicans across the state have been speculating about whether state party chairman, Chris Healy, would seek another term.
The normally garrulous Healy has consistently dodged the question and he did so again Monday night.
But former state Sen. William Aniskovich, who has launched his own bid for the chairman's post, says Healy has made up his mind not to seek another term.
"My decision did hinge in part on Chris' decision,'' Aniskovich said in a brief phone interview tonight. "Someone who has done the job as long as Chris has deserves that respect.''
Healy told the Courant's Chris Keating that he'd make his announcement at a closed-door meeting tomorrow night at the Quinnipiac Club.
"I'm going to reserve my announcement for tomorrow night's State Central Committee meeting,'' Healy told Keating. "That's all I'm going to say. ... I can neither confirm nor deny. Let the mystery continue for a while.''
The reticence is out of character for Healy, a former reporter who is rarely at a loss for words.
