One of Susan Bysiewciz' hallmarks as secretary of the state was her penchant for traveling around the state to honor veterans.
Now a U.S. Senate candidate, Bysiewicz has formed an advisory board of military veterans, which she has pledged to consult with on matters relating to veterans affairs.
"Ensuring our veterans have access to health care, educational and professional opportunities to transition to civilian life, and counseling for them and their families is the least we owe the service men and women who have risked their lives for our country and way of life," Bysiewicz said in an email announcing the veterans panel.
"I am honored to have the support and insight of these leaders as part of my campaign team especially as we seek to end the war in Afghanistan and bring our troops home," Bysiewicz added.
Bysiewicz is seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Also running are Democrats U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy and state Rep. William Tong.
