Connecticut state Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. and other local Republicans staffed phone banks in an effort to help edge Bob Turner to victory in New York's 9th District.
Late Tuesday, after Turner was declared the winner in the special election, Labriola took a victory lap.
"Tonight's historic victory in New York has sent a clear message that voters have had enough of the Democrat's taxing, spending and borrowing that has lead to stagnate recession and fourteen million Americans still without jobs," Labriola said. "I'm happy that our Connecticut Republican Party was able to play a small role in this historic upset in traditionally Democratic turf, and confident that these results will carry over to our own elections in 2012."
