The state's three highest commercial truck crash zones in the New Haven, Hartford and Waterbury areas will receive three days of intensified safety checks, beginning Tuesday, Gov. M. Jodi Rell said.
State police and roving Department of Motor Vehicles inspectors will patrol highways including Interstates 95, 91, 84, 395 and 384. They'll also open the weigh stations in Danbury, Union and Greenwich to check for violations.
"Preventing accidents remains our strong message," Rell said. "These checks put truck drivers and their companies on notice we are cracking down on violators. We take highway safety very seriously in Connecticut and expect everyone to do the same."
