The AP's Susan Haigh spoke with a state election enforcement official, who said the agency is looking into an allegation that an out-of-state worker was soliciting signatures for the Schiff campaign.
Schiff spokeswoman Jennifer Millikin acknowledged that the campaign had hired a firm to oversee the petition drive -- reportedly paying some workers $2.25 per signature. But she told Haigh that all of the signature-gatherers are following the rules and regulations governing the process.
Those rules require the person collecting the signatures to be a Connecticut resident, among other requirements.
