The state Senate’s Republican leader Thursday protested what he called “partisan threats” by two Democratic legislative committee co-leaders against the State Elections Enforcement Commission – threats that he said caused the elections panel Wednesday to postpone indefinitely its intended hiring of the Republican ex-mayor of Middletown, Sebastian N. Giuliano, as its new executive director and general counsel.
