Rob Simmons is back on the campaign trail -- sort of.
But don't look for him on the fair and festival circuit. And he probably won't be embarking on one of those "business tours" that are so popular with candidates these days.
Instead, the recently resurrected Republican U.S. Senate candidate is spending the week before the Aug. 10 primary touring radio and TV studios and newspaper offices across the state.
"Free" or "earned" media is the best way to get his message out to the largest number of voters, said Simmons. To that end, he'll be on WNPR"s "Where We Vote'' with host John Dankosky tomorrow at 9.
"I don't have $50 million,'' he said, referring to GOP opponent Linda McMahon's hefty bank account.
"I can't buy $50 million worth of media by writing checks. I earn my media the old-fashioned way. I go on the radio, I answer questions. If people want to fall for the new style of politics, which is $50 million of flyers and foderol, that's fine, that's their choice. But I'l do it my way.''
