Voter Fraud Complaint Against Ann Coulter Is Dismissed

The State Elections Enforcement Commission Thursday dismissed a complaint of voter fraud against national conservative columnist Ann Coulter, saying there was "insufficient evidence" to support an allegation that she wasn't a Connecticut resident when she voted here by absentee ballot in 2002 and 2004.

The complaint -- filed in early 2009 by Daniel Borchers, a Christian conservative blog writer who has been critical of Coulter -- said that her actual residence was in New York City when she cast absentee ballots in New Canaan using her parents' address.

Coulter was registered as a voter in New Canaan from 1980 to 2006, and then terminated that registration to become a voter in Florida. Even though she maintained a New York apartment and condo in 2002 in 2004, respectively, she maintaned that "she was a bona fide resident in New Canaan during the 26 years she was registered there," the commission said in a written decision Thursday.
