Five months after putting an abrupt end to Democratic Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz's candidacy for state attorney general, the state Supreme Court today will release its long-awaited, written decision to explain how justices reached their 7-0 decision on May 18 that she is ineligible to serve in that office.
The state Judicial Branch's website has a notice that the decision in the case Bysiwicz v. DiNardo will be released after 11:30 a.m. today, Friday.
The decision will not change Bysiewicz's political fate. That was determined in dramatic fashion in the packed Supreme Court chamber on Capitol Avenue in Hartford, when the justices emerged from a short recess after a hearing and unanimously upheld the state Republican Party's challenge to her credentials. They said they would follow up their terse ruling with a written decision to outline their reasoning -- and that apparently will come today.
Bysiewicz's tumultuous experiences during 2010 will be remembered among Connecticut's most memorable political dramas.
