Many of the state's top officials will be in Meriden today to celebrate the awarding of federal money for the long-delayed New Haven-to-Hartford-to-Springfield rail line.
Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell will be there with much of the state's Congressional delegation, including Sen. Christopher J. Dodd and U.S. House members John B. Larson, Rosa DeLauro and Chris Murphy.
The ceremony will be at the Meriden Amtrak station on State Street for a high-speed rail project that has been discussed for years. State House Speaker Christopher Donovan, among others, will also attend.
Dodd has jurisdiction over public transportation because he chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Like Rell, Dodd will be leaving office early next year.
