Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz said Thursday afternoon that she's "as anxious as you are" to get the official vote totals from the city of Bridgeport that will decide the tight gubernatorial election between Republican Tom Foley and Democrat Dan Malloy. But she added that she can't do anything except wait.

She had scheduled a press conference at noon in the Capitol to announce town-by-town official totals from around the state, but postponed it twice - from noon to 2 p.m., and then to 3 p.m. Then she showed up a half-hour late, at 3:30 p.m., and said there had been continuing delays by Bridgeport voting officials in compiling the results from 25 city voting precincts into one official report.

"We understood that at approximately 3 o'clock they began work again, having gone home, and now they are working on it and we are anxious to receive it," Bysiewicz said.
