Governor-elect Dan Malloy is in Colorado this weekend for an orientation session with the National Governors Association.
The bipartisan sessions cover some of the key issues that new governors need to know as they make their transitions, including how to manage the budget and make decisions on emergency preparedness, communications, and scheduling, among others.
"The last 11 days or so have been a whirlwind, and this is an excellent opportunity to talk with people who have gone through this process already,'' Malloy said in a statement. "As I've said in the past, I plan to be a very active governor, and meeting my counterparts from other states will allow me to build relationships that will help when we're talking about issues that go beyond state lines.''
Malloy intends to hear from Republican Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and the chairman of the Democratic Governors Assocation, Jack Markell of Delaware, among others.
