Stamford Man To Lead Siting Council After Caruso Quits

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has nominated a Stamford man to lead the state agency that has the sensitive job of approving the locations of phone towers, transmission lines, hazardous waste plants and other facilities.

Malloy announced Thursday that he named Robert "Robin" Stein of Stamford to join the Connecticut Siting Council -- and nominated him to be its chairman, a move that requires legislative approval. Stein had been chief of Stamford's Land Use Bureau Chief for 15 years.

Malloy, a former mayor of Stamford, said in a statement, "I've known Robin for many years and continue to be impressed by his professionalism, his intellectual curiosity and the way in which he interacts with other people -- a skill set that will be particularly useful in this new position."
