With all of the mergers and consolidations being proposed in the state budget, there is a question whether the state's Commission on Culture and Tourism would continue to receive federal funding from the National Endowment For The Arts.
The question is being raised because the NEA money currently only goes to independent, stand-alone arts organizations, according to The Courant's Frank Rizzo.
Under the proposal by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy that is pending with the Democratic-controlled state legislature, the culture and tourism agency would be merged into the much-larger Department of Economic and Community Development.
