A left-leaning environmental and civil rights group has issued a report documenting what it says is a link between the Koch Brothers and a lawsuit filed by Connecticut and five other states against five large power companies.
The Billionaires Behind the Curtain, a report by the D.C.-based Alliance for Justice, examined "a web of contributions" by the Kochs to groups that have filed briefs supporting the power companies' legal position.
Connecticut and five other states, along with New York City, are suing to reduce carbon pollution by coal-burning power plants in the South and Midwest. At issue is whether federal court judges should be able to regulate greenhouse gases through "public nuisance" lawsuits.
The case - American Electric Power Co. (AEP), et al. v. Connecticut, et al. - was heard in by the U.S. Supreme Court in April and a ruling is expected soon.
