The Rasmussen survey of 500 Connecticut likely voters finds Richard Blumenthal's support is holding strong, despite recent revelations that he misrepresented his military record and stated on several occassions that he served in Vietnam.
The poll, taken on June 1, finds Blumenthal with 56 percent, versus 33 percent for Linda McMahon, the GOP's endorsed candidate.
Blumenthal's numbers have rebounded from a Rasmussen poll taken last month, immediately after the New York Times broke the story about his military misrepresentations. In that survey, he held a narrow 48 to 45 percent lead over McMahon.
Ultimately, the most troubling news for the Republicans may be this: "Blumenthal benefits from an electorate that is more supportive of Democrats than voters across the nation. While 60 percent of voters nationwide favor repeal of the national health care bill, just 48 percent feel that way in Connecticut.''
In other words, Connecticut's solid blue state politics may count as much as anything else this election cycle.
