The U.S. Senate campaign of Susan Bysiewicz is getting a big boost from EMILY's List, one of the nation's largest political action committees.
The Democratic former Secretary of the State is getting early access to EMILY's List formidable network of support. (During the 2009-10 election cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million in support of its mission of recruiting and funding women candidates.)
"Susan Bysiewicz is a statewide leader, a strong voice for reform and transparency in government, and a determined advocate for small businesses - and we are proud to put her 'On the List'," said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY's List, said in a press release this morning.
"As state Representative and Secretary of State, Susan championed good government policies, promoting transparency and ethics reform. Women in Connecticut and across the country need her dedication in Washington to hold the line for the Democrats in the Senate and fight against the radical Republican agenda. She is running an excellent campaign and EMILY's List is proud to stand with Susan Bysiewicz for Senate."
Bysiewicz is running against two men---William Tong and Chris Murphy---for the Democratic nomination.
Women voters played a key role in the 2010 U.S. Senate, but instead of backing Republican Linda McMahon in her quest to become the first female Senator from Connecticut, women voters overwhelmingly chose Democrat Richard Blumenthal.
