Both the Neil Vigdor of Hearst Connecticut Newspapers and Mark Davis of Channel 8 are reporting that former Congressman Chris Shays will officially announce his bid for U.S. Senate.
Shays has been rumored as a potential candidate for months. But, according to Hearst, he reactivated his status as a registered voter in Bridgeport just last week, after moving to Maryland after losing reelection to the U.S. House of Represenatives in 2008.
Davis reports that Shays will make his announcement on Oct. 3.
Shays could not be reached for comment this morning.
