The endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Dannel Malloy, has released his first television commercial of the primary season that focuses on his family upbringing.
Titled "Night and Day,'' the 30-second ad is designed to introduce Malloy, an attorney who served for 14 years as Stamford's mayor.
Malloy's campaign manager, Dan Kelly, said the goal of the first commercial is to "introduce Dan Malloy to voters who might not know him yet - but soon will - and to tell them a little about his life experiences and how they've shaped his values and his perspective."
Kelly added, in a statement, that "it's clear that Dan does well with the voters who know him, and it's also clear that when people hear about him for the first time and then learn more, they gravitate to him pretty quickly. In 2006, Dan only had about three weeks to communicate on television. This time he'll have about seven. We believe that will make the difference."
Although Malloy has been running for governor for about six years and spent $4 million in the 2006 primary, the latest Quinnipiac poll showed that 68 percent of registered Democrats did not know enough about him to form an opinion.
