There will be no announcement today on whether investor Peter Schiff has collected enough signatures to qualify for the ballot for the U.S. Senate.
Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz's office is "still tabulating'' the petitions and expects no announcement until Monday, said Av Harris, a spokesman for Bysiewicz. A press conference has been scheduled for Monday on Schiff and any other candidates who have been gathering petitions for a spot on the ballot in various races across the state.
Schiff, an economic prognosticator who is well known on cable television, is trying to get on the Republican ballot to challenge Linda McMahon, the Republican front runner in the polls.
McMahon intends to run in the general election in the fall against Democrat Richard Blumenthal.
