Former Gov. John G. Rowland kicked off a three-day stint behind the microphone Friday by making a pitch to bring an NHL team back to Connecticut's capital.
Rowland, appearing as a guest host on WTIC-AM, said he believes the state could be in a better position economically, possibly a year from now, to make the financial investment needed to attract a major league hockey franchise.
"It might be the time to make a major investment in the XL Center and start to look at ourselves a little differently," said Rowland, referring to the downtown facility commonly known as the civic center. "This is our shot and I think it's got to be with hockey."
