Republican state Attorney General candidate Ross Garber on Friday proposed a three-part plan to reduce the nearly $100 million that The Courant reported this week the state has paid to settle lawsuits over the last seven years.
"As the state faces serious fiscal challenges in the coming years," Garber said, "the Office of Attorney General can make a dramatic difference by providing a strong defense against lawsuits, eliminating unnecessary litigation expenses and providing proper legal advice to state agencies before legal issues arise."
Garber, a late entry in the campaign, is running a primary challenge against fellow Republican Martha Dean, the party-nominated candidate.
